Therapy with JLee
Eating Disorders | Trauma | Anxiety | Depression | Stress Management | New to Therapy
Contrary to popular belief, therapy isn’t for people who are overly sensitive — it’s for those who want to live with greater efficiency and clarity.
The desire to turn away from worries and fears is a natural human reaction.
However, suffering happens when we cannot find our exit and the thought of adding therapy on top of it all can feel even more daunting.

So….what is therapy? Do we just talk?
While talking is often perceived as chatting casually, psychotherapy is more than that.
Therapy is a type of treatment that focuses on addressing mental health challenges through different types of communications.
Therapists are trained to identify the source of distress and facilitate conversations to meet treatment goals.
We discuss, clarify, collaborate, strategize, assess, learn, reflect, problem solve, practice, explore options, make decisions, implement changes, celebrate accomplishments.
Laughing or crying is sometimes in the mix. So simple answer is, yes, we do talk!
“Language shows us that naming an experience gives us the power of understanding and meaning.”

Can I benefit from therapy if I’m not into the “touchy-feely” stuff?
Absolutely! You don’t need to be a "touchy-feely" person to be able to benefit from growing your self-awareness. If you're alive, you have feelings—and you deserve to find your own authentic way of navigating through life. Therapy is about learning how to manage and understand your emotions in a way that works for you, helping you stay grounded and in control of your life.
